Bio

Asahi Tanaka / タナカアサヒ
Asahi Tanaka (b. 1968) is an artist from Nagasaki, Japan. Growing up with a deep affinity for plants, he was profoundly influenced by the aesthetic of spatial composition found in the Sogetsu school of Ikebana (Japanese flower arrangement).
Although he once pursued the path to art university, he later inherited his family's flower shop, spending his days immersed in the world of plants. However, his passion for creating never ceased, and after many years, he officially resumed his artistic practice in 2023.
Drawing from the organic rhythms of nature and daily life—a sensibility cultivated through his experience as a florist—Tanaka now creates abstract paintings based on fragmented images, designed to quietly coexist with their surrounding space.
