Other Works

特定のシリーズには分類されない、移行期にある作品や、新しい表現を探る実験的なプロセスから生まれた作品をまとめています。
This is a collection of works that are not categorized into a specific series. It includes transitional pieces, as well as experimental works that emerged from the process of exploring new expressions.

"Staccato," an abstract acrylic painting with a complex, layered composition. The artwork is built upon a yellow background, over which layers of brown and black paint were applied, creating vertical drips. A subsequent layer of white paint partially obscures these drips and the underlying colors. The composition is completed with a final, dense layer of scattered black dots, creating a staccato-like effect. This piece is from the 'Other Works' collection by Asahi Tanaka.

"Final Veil," a multi-layered abstract painting featuring a complex construction of overlapping forms. On a light-colored base, black circular forms were first created, followed by vertical drips of blue paint that cascade down the canvas. A subsequent layer of fine, hand-drawn white horizontal lines was added. The entire composition is overlaid with a final, dominant network of irregular white lines, creating a veil-like grid that both reveals and conceals the layers beneath. This piece is from the 'Other Works' collection by Asahi Tanaka.
Final Veil, 2024
"Untitled (Blue / Yellow)," a vibrant and densely layered abstract painting with a complex visual structure. The artwork was constructed in sequential layers: on a yellow-toned base, light blue horizontal lines were applied, followed by free-flowing lines in a dark blue colored pencil. Four prominent, textured yellow forms were then added in a vertical, diagonal arrangement. A dense network of fine white lines was subsequently added in the spaces between these forms. The entire composition is overlaid with a final layer of fine white lines crossing the canvas diagonally. This piece is from the 'Other Works' collection by Asahi Tanaka.
Untitled (Blue / Yellow), 2024
"Untitled (Blue / White)," a heavily textured abstract painting constructed with a sequential layering process. The artwork was initiated on a light-colored base that included black crayon marks. Blue paint was then applied in dots at the top of the canvas, with drips running downwards to create vertical forms, and some areas between these drips were also filled with blue. The entire composition is overlaid with a final, dense layer of fine horizontal lines created with two different white materials, crayon and marker pen, which produces a screen-like effect over the underlying layers. This piece is from the 'Other Works' collection by Asahi Tanaka.
Untitled (Blue / White), 2024
"Flat Pink," a multi-layered and textured mixed-media artwork. The piece was constructed on a varied pink background that includes wine-red brushstrokes. Light blue paint was then applied from the top and bottom of the canvas, and the surface was scraped to enhance its complexity. Despite the physical depth of these layers, the final composition achieves a visually unified or "flat" impression, as suggested by the work's title. This piece is from the 'Other Works' collection by Asahi Tanaka.
Flat Pink, 2019
"Untitled (Black / Yellow)," a high-contrast, mixed-media abstract painting with a significant layered history. The work was initiated with a collage of a croton leaf, which is now mostly obscured. Gestural layers of red and yellow paint were then applied. The composition was resolved with a final, dominant layer of heavily textured black paint, which conceals much of the surface while allowing portions of the vibrant yellow and red underlayers to remain visible along the central boundary. This piece is from the 'Other Works' collection by Asahi Tanaka.
Untitled (Black / Yellow), 2023
"Nectar," a heavily textured, multi-layered abstract painting. The artwork incorporates four distinct, circular points of thick, impasto-like texture, which are the physical remnants of a previous artistic process. These points are integrated into a heavily worked pink background, which is overlaid with splashes and patches of yellow in various shades. The composition is completed with a final layer of gestural orange ink splatters and drips. This piece is from the 'Other Works' collection by Asahi Tanaka.
Nectar, 2023
"Thicket," a densely layered, mixed-media abstract painting. The artwork was constructed on a black base, over which multiple layers of green and orange paint and crayon marks were subsequently applied. This additive process creates a complex and highly textured surface, where the interwoven colors and gestural marks build up from the dark background, resulting in a composition of considerable depth. This piece is from the 'Other Works' collection by Asahi Tanaka.
茂み / Thicket,2020
"Mossy," an abstract painting with a composition intentionally constructed to evoke the texture of moss growing on a rock face. The base layer, with its areas of white and black, was created to represent a rock surface. Over this, successive layers of small green dots were applied, building up a dense, textured area that emulates the appearance and feeling of a mossy growth. This contemporary, textured artwork is from the 'Other Works' collection by Asahi Tanaka.
